Encino California, November 7, 2012 –
On November 11, David Gilliland will take the number 38 LoanMart Ford to the racetrack for the Advocare 500 at the Phoenix International Raceway. In the second to last race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Gilliland will look for a top-25 finish with Front Row Motorsports LoanMart Ford. This race will be the final appearance of 1-800 LoanMart sponsorship on the No. 38 car.
This is Gilliand’s first year driving with LoanMart sponsorship on his No. 38 Ford at Front Row Motorsports, where he has raced since 2009. LoanMart has been the primary sponsor for the car and Riverside native Gilliand since March of this year, a California connection that makes both the sponsor and the driver proud. Prior to making the move to sponsor one of Front Row’s full-time teams with No. 38, LoanMart dipped its toes into NASCAR sponsorship with Front Row’s No. 26 car in an attempt to differentiate itself from its competitors. The response was so impressive that the marketing team at LoanMart couldn’t delay stepping up their campaign.
And so far, it’s been quite a fun ride for the non-traditional loan provider. Gilliland finished October with an average finish of 22.75, has 11 top-25 finishes this season, and is in 28th position in championship points. He posted solid finishes at the Auto Club Speedway in March in Fontana, Ca, where LoanMart employees made the drive to support him, and at the Geico 400 in Joliet, Illinois. Of course, the broken cylinder that force the No. 38 team and Gilliland to retire early last weekend in Texas was disappointing, but that hasn’t dampened the spirits of Gilliland, Front Row Motorsports, or the cheering fans at LoanMart.
The Avondale, AZ racetrack has over 50 years of history and a reputation for thrilling drivers and viewers alike, and it has been relatively kind to Gilliland over his career as well. His top finish there was 15th, in 12 career starts. So in a field of 43, Gilliland certainly has a good chance to take Ford’s No. 38 car to a successful finish this weekend. Race coverage begins Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN, with warm ups, trials, and other events preceding that coverage, beginning on Friday night.
With two races to go in the season, this marks LoanMart’s final sponsorship of the No. 38 car for this season.
