STATESVILLE, N.C. (10/17/12) – – David Gilliland heads to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the running of the Hollywood Casino 400. Gilliland will debut a “new-look” Long John Silver’s Ford this week.
Gilliland is coming off of a career-best Charlotte Motor Speedway finish of 23rd last weekend; his 2nd consecutive top-25 effort with Derrick Finley atop the No. 38 pit box and his 10th top-25 finish of the 2012 season. Gilliland currently sits 27th in NASCAR’s point standings and has a career-best finish of 22nd at Kansas Speedway.
The team will participate in a two-day test prior to the event, to acclimate themselves to the newly repaved and reconfigured speedway, which has added progressive banking to the racing surface.

“We had a strong run on a 1.5 mile oval last weekend at Charlotte and will look to replicate that effort this weekend. We really don’t know how the new surface will race until we unload. Derrick [Finley] and I have worked well together in these last two races. Hopefully we can put together another top-25 here at Kansas in our new-look Long John Silver’s Ford.”
