STATESVILLE, N.C. (May 23, 2013) – David Ragan and Front Row Motorsports’ No. 34 team will encourage NASCAR fans to join team partner Love’s Travel Stops in donating to help victims of this week’s Oklahoma tornadoes. Oklahoma City-based Love’s Travel Stops announced a $3 million donation to support relief efforts, and the No. 34 Dockside Logistics Ford will carry decals for this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway to promote additional giving.
Love’s announced the donation this week to support immediate and long-term relief efforts in Oklahoma following the devastating tornado that impacted the communities of Moore, Shawnee and surrounding areas.
The first $1 million will be designated to the OK Strong Relief Fund established by Governor Mary Fallin to meet the long-term needs of victims in partnership with the United Way of Central Oklahoma. Another donation of $500,000 will be given to Catholic Charities. The remaining $1.5 million will fund a benefit event to honor those impacted by the storm and to raise additional relief funds.
“Our company has been engrained in the fabric of Oklahoma since 1964. Our hearts are saddened by the news of this tragedy affecting so many of our friends and neighbors,” said Tom Love, Chairman and CEO. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all those impacted by this horrific event.”
Front Row Motorsports was eager to donate space on the car to help raise additional funds.
“Anything we can do to help, we’re obviously happy to do it,” Ragan said. “You feel so helpless when you watch the footage on TV and you wish you could do something more for those folks. The best way to help is to donate money and we hope NASCAR fans will follow in Love’s footsteps in doing so.”
